Nothing Short of Thankful

As we head into Thanksgiving week, it’s the perfect time to pause and reflect on what truly matters. Instead of getting caught up in the frenzy of Black Friday sales and long shopping lines, let's focus on something far more valuable: the people we're most thankful for. This year, my wish is for you to intentionally slow down and savor every moment with your loved ones.

Making Time for What Matters

In a world that seems to be speeding up, there's a unique power in slowing down. It’s like a seasonal reset, an opportunity to gather those closest to your heart. This isn't about adding another item to your to-do list; it’s about intentionally choosing to be present.

Instead of hunting for deals, try pulling out a favorite board game, settling in for a classic movie night, or simply enjoying a warm drink with someone you care about. These moments of connection are the true treasures of the season. The greatest gift you can give is your time and undivided attention. So often, we rely on texts and social media to stay connected, but nothing can replace a real conversation. Use that phone to call a friend, schedule a meetup, or simply sit and listen. You might be surprised to find that what people truly want is just to spend time with you.

Documenting Your Experiences Together

Once you've made that time, the next step is to capture those precious memories. We live in an age where it's easier than ever to document our lives, and Thanksgiving week is the perfect time to start.

Start a new tradition of taking pictures, not just of the food, but of the laughter, the shared stories, and the quiet moments of togetherness. Write down a few words about what made the day special. These small acts of documentation turn fleeting moments into lasting memories you can look back on for years to come. Think about the joy of creating a scrapbook of photos or a journal of shared experiences. In a way, these aren’t just mementos—they’re a heartfelt "thank you" to the people who enrich our lives.

This season, I hope you find joy not in what you buy, but in the moments you create and the memories you document with the people you cherish most.

Let's Get Started!

A Few Thoughts on Mindful Spending and Supporting Community

If you find yourself needing to shop this season, remember that your choices have an impact. Consider supporting local and small businesses. These businesses often rely on community support to thrive, and your purchases help to sustain local families.

And for those who are thinking about holiday cards or other paper products, consider supporting companies that prioritize sustainability. For example, Paper Culture is a sustainable holiday card company that plants a tree with every order. You can find them at www.paperculture.com.

Kindness Grows

Last year I posted on Facebook this incredible story that reminded me that it doesn’t take much to profoundly change the life of another for good. Ben Taylor was contacted on Facebook by Joel from Monrovia, Liberia. Joel said that he needed financial assistance and that he was struggling to provide for his family. I don't want to spoil how it turns out so watch the video. Be forewarned that after all this time it still moves me to tears.
Facebook Message that Sparked Hope

Were you as touched as we were? There is a book featuring never-before-seen photos of Ben & Joel's incredible journey! Proceeds help the By d Grace of God foundation with their mission to rebuild Liberia.
